How to make every piece of Content Real

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been talking to you about the repeating old ways, won’t give you visibility, shifting your mindset will and people don't know what to post, so they stop...today I want us to explore what we should be writing.



Are you actually connecting with what you’re writing??


Every piece of content we write doesn't have to be perfect… but every piece of content has to be real...


And I want you to ask yourself, are you writing this as a human and not as a strategist or are you copying what other people around you are doing?


Sometimes we get so caught up with our messaging that we forget that the people who are reading what you have to say about your business are real humans on the other side of the computer, or their phone…


And if you’ve been listening to me for a while now… you know I’ve said that you need to write as you speak, because there’s 1 person that you’re writing to…when you write content, there are humans reading and listening to what you have to say...


and that is why when you sit down and write a script, a promotion, a blog or whatever piece of content… you should have 1 person in mind…


Maybe you think of that ideal client, maybe you think of that current client you have that is struggling, or maybe you write to your old self and to you right now…


Now, your messaging is your content...and this where i see a lot of people get confused…


Let me give you an example from a client of mine…


Now David is a new entrepreneur… he’s an amazing violin soloist, performed with the best here in Spain and around the world, with the best orchestras..., and like many because of the pandemic he had to stop doing concerts and performing… so out of the blue he decided that he should be giving violin lessons… to get some cash…


He created a nice 20 second video, promoting his classes… and I actually stumbled on it, and wrote to him… but I’ll tell you about that later…


He created this nice video and so far, it's been crickets…


Well, the nice video was not showing who he really is, it's not saying why he is so good at what he does, it's not saying who he has worked with… its not saying what makes his teaching style different from the rest…

And sadly it was not targeted to who he wanted to teach…


So I’ve approached him…like I said before…and told him, just this.


“If you need any help I’m here for you to help you”


Obviously… he wrote a few minutes later, saying “ I need all the help you can offer”


so , we had the first meeting 3 weeks ago where I listened to what he wanted… what type of lessons he wanted to give, what his vision is…


From that meeting we created an action…


But… like we all humans, he has continued to send out mixed messages with his content… until I explained to him that the only way for him to sell anything from now on, he needed to shift his messaging…

So going back to David, it was a process to change his mindset so that he could change his messaging…


He is an artist, so the good artist that he is, he gets distracted by art, and beautiful things…


In the end, everything has a process…


He can't go out and immediately sell an online class, if you do not understand what his messaging is all about…and now he’s committed to uncover his messaging


Messaging is like how we communicate… if you explain yourself people will understand better what you have to say, but if you explain it vaguely they will probably think you’re speaking Chinese…
